Treating Cavities The Modern Way

If you are of a certain age, you probably remember those unseemly silver dental fillings that used to be commonplace. The effectiveness of these treatments has always been shown to be high. Yet, there have been some very real complaints about the use of metal.

Amalgam is anything but discreet and so it looks like a dark metallic blotch on your otherwise pretty teeth. Plus, old-style fillings can actually make your tooth more vulnerable to fracture and cause damage to the nearby healthy tooth structures. Who wants to deal with that? Fortunately, at Mint 32, you won’t have to.

At our practice, we can now offer a new, safe, and aesthetically-pleasing material for fillings: composite. In fact, these days, Dr. Morton only uses composite resin filling material. Composite consists of a blend of resins that lends itself well to the appearance of your natural teeth. Unlike metal, these tooth-colored fillings will look and feel like they actually belong in your mouth.

That means we can now fill a cavity very discreetly and the composite resin we use will also have superior bonding properties that allow for increased longevity.

How It Works With Tooth-Colored Fillings

Getting a tooth-colored filling from us is easy.

Here’s the deal: we will start out by numbing the relevant region of your mouth. And if you are anxious about the procedure, we can explore options for relaxing the rest of your body.

Then, we can clean the cavity by removing the decayed tissue. After the cavity has been cleared, we will apply the putty-like composite resin material in thin layers. We will be able to shape these layers to match the surface of your tooth.

Finally, our team will harden the resin with a high-intensity light and polish it to match the shade of your teeth. That’s really all there is to it. Then you’ll be able to take your new and improved smile and share it worth the world. Remember, the material we use for tooth-colored fillings is all BPA free and will bond seamlessly with your teeth, so there will be nothing showing in your mouth to remind you of your cavities.
