Avoid Sugary Snacks
A cold pop or sugary snack (especially a tasty treat from Four Fat Cows) can be appealing in the summer, especially when you are camping, hanging by the pool, or out on the road. But such choices won’t be good for you in the long run because all that sugar will feed the bacteria that brings about tooth decay. If you don’t want to get fillings in the Fall, be mindful of your sugar intake!
We all know on some level that drinking water is a great idea in general. But not everyone realizes that it can help keep your breath fresh by allowing you to produce enough saliva to eradicate the bad-breath-causing bacteria. Any water with fluoride is even better!
Brush Like You Mean It
It’s summertime, and the living is easy, right? Even though your routine may have relaxed a bit, you should still be brushing your teeth for 2 minutes or more, at least twice each day. This will keep cavities and gum disease on the run, and it will leave your mouth feeling refreshed.
Find The Floss
Brushing is a great start but brushing alone is never going to be enough to get the whole job done. To tackle the plaque and tartar that remains between your teeth and in other hard to see areas, dental floss is your best bet. Do it once a day at least.
Rinse With Fluoride
This is a great way to step up your routine. There are fluoride mouthwashes available at any drugstore that can bring added oral health benefits. Be sure to check the labels for age-appropriateness!
