If you are looking for a dentist in Alpharetta, Georgia that you can trust to keep up with your family’s ever-evolving dental needs, look no further!
Dr. Morton is one of the most knowledgeable and personable dental professionals in the area. He is big on prevention, and so are the rest of us here at Mint 32. Preventive dentistry is the key (well, one of them at least) to staying healthy and happy, and enjoying a long life.
That’s why for today’s blog post, we have some preventive dentistry tips for you to “chew on.” Keep reading, and then be sure to get in touch with our team to schedule your next teeth cleaning and exam in our cozy little office.
What you do for your smile at home will be the foundation upon which we will build your preventive dentistry program. You will have to be diligent. And if you have kids, you will need to set the bar high for them to follow.
Our friends at the ADA say you should be brushing twice a day for two minutes per session, and flossing a minimum of one time each day, usually in the evening.
You can also be drinking fluoride-fortified water, rinsing with mouthwash, and calling us to schedule your next visit! These things are really the least that you can do for your smile!
Mint 32 Takes It Deeper
You won’t be able to go it alone, no matter how well you attend to your teeth and gums. All that plaque that is inevitably missed by your efforts at home will harden and become calculus (tartar). That calculus will begin wearing away at the enamel of your teeth, contributing to decay, tooth loss, and, eventually, bone loss.
Many times only a professional like Dr. Morton can see what is really going on in your mouth before it creates problems that are uncomfortable and expensive to treat.
Plus, specialized tools are often needed to get the job done.
Teeth Cleanings, Dental Exams, And More
At Mint 32, your preventive appointment will begin with a dental hygienist taking digital X-rays and a full set of diagnostic photos. These will give us a better idea of the state of your mouth and will be the starting point for any necessary treatments. Then, the hygienist will thoroughly clean and examine your teeth, noting any area of concern for Dr. Morton during this time.
Dr. Morton will come in after your cleaning is complete. He will look over your teeth and gums and examine the X-rays for any signs of emerging trouble. He will also screen you for oral cancer using our VELscope tool.
If Dr. Morton finds any problems, he will formulate a treatment plan to meet your needs. He will go over this plan with you, and you will both work out exactly how to beat whatever issues you are currently facing. We can further protect your smile while you are here by offering dental sealants, fluoride treatments, and other similar precautions.
